Our story

All over the world, countless street dogs and cats struggle for survival under the worst conditions. Born in the wild, abandoned, or displaced, they suffer from hunger and die miserably from injuries and disease. Many are captured, killed, or spend their lives behind bars without any chance of a better life.

We want to help animals in southwestern Sardinia. At our sanctuary for stray animals, Isola Felice (Happy Island), they experience affection, care, and medical attention for the first time in their lives. We are looking for good homes for young or particularly vulnerable animals.
Through spay and neuter programs, we help to reduce animal suffering, because fewer unwanted, stray animals mean fewer acts of animal cruelty. To achieve this, we work together with local authorities and try to raise public awareness of our animal welfare projects.

Isola Felice

The largest project since 2019 is "Isola Felice," which means "Happy Island" in Italian. Under this name, we have built a refuge for stray animals in southern Sardinia. It is located on a 2,800 square meter plot of land with an access road and a fence approximately 3 meters high surrounding the area.

Currently, our "Isola Felice" consists of a cat area and a dog area. The aim of Isola Felice is to provide homeless animals with a species-appropriate life in a safe environment.

However, the large number of animals in need exceeds our current capacity. Therefore, we are continuously expanding the facility through annual work weeks with volunteers.

New enclosures for cats and dogs are to be built on the property, so that they cannot roam freely with other animals on the grounds.

To ensure a reliable water supply, we are planning to build a well. We also envision shade structures and a building for storing feed, medicine, tools, and other equipment.
